The
Big U and the Southern Documentary Fund
The Southern
Documentary Fund (SDF) is a non-profit organization serving as
our fiscal sponsor which gives The Big U project 501(c)3
status, allowing all donations to be tax-deductible.
The Southern
Documentary Fund’s Mission
The SDF encourages
documentary media projects made within or about the American
South. They
are an organization that passionately
believes
that the stories of the American South have national and international
significance, and that documentary artists living and working
in the region deserve support and recognition. The SDF’s
mission is to help preserve and share those stories by acting
as a resource for
documentary artists. Through services like fiscal sponsorship,
they aim to connect people, ideas, and resources - furthering
their goal
of growing a community of media artists.

How your money
will be handled
For acting
as The Big U project's fiscal sponsor, SDF takes a very small
percentage of every donation for administrative
fees. The
rest of the donation is then distributed to Rock Creek Productions,
Inc. to help defray for pre-production, production, post-production
and marketing costs. Every little bit helps.
